Group E : Spain 0 - 0 Sweden

Another Group E match is between Spain, who has won three times in the past, and Sweden, a Nordic powerhouse.

As expected, the match goes on with Spain dominating the ball. After about 30 minutes in the first half, Sweden also started counter-attacking.

In the first half, Spain had several chances, but Morata missed the shot and lacked deciding power and no goal.

Sweden also had a chance once, but Isak could not be decided and the first half ended with 0-0.

In the second half, Spain dominates the ball and Sweden occasionally fights back.

However, Spain couldn't shake the goal net after all, and the match remained 0-0 and the time was up.

ベスト16の戦い。初日のもう一つの試合は、グループA1位のイタリアと、グループC2位のオーストリアの戦い。 イタリアは、グループステージではトルコ、スイスにそれぞれ3-0と快勝、最後のウェールズ戦はメンバーを代えながらそれでも1-0。 攻撃的なプレースタイルが機能していて、危なげない戦い方。 しかし、これまでの3試合は全てホームのローマで行われた。この試合はイタリアにとっては初めてのローマ以外での試合。ロンドンでもこれまで通りの戦いができるのか。 一方のオーストリアは、初戦の北マケドニアに3-1で勝ったが、続くオランダ戦には0-2と完敗。最後のウクライナ戦で1-0と競り勝って、ベスト16に勝ち進んだ。 そのウクライナ戦では、様子見のウクライナに対して積極的に攻撃して先制し、残りの時間を守り切った戦術の巧みさが印象的だった。 イタリアはFIFAランキングで7位、オーストリアは23位。 試合は、イタリア、オーストリアがそれぞれ攻撃を繰り返し、一進一退の展開。 65分、右サイドからのセンタリング、アラバが頭で折り返し、最後はアルナウトビッチがゴールラインギリギリから頭で合わせてゴールと思われたが、これはVARでオフサイドの判定。 その後も両者譲らず、試合は今大会初の延長戦へ。 95分、右サイドでフリーになったキエーザが、最後はDFをかわして左足でゴールを決めて、遂にイタリアが先制した。 105分、イタリアはさらにペッシーナがゴール前の混戦から最後は左足で決めて、2-0。 しかしオーストリアは諦めない。114分にカライジッチが右サイドからの低いコーナーキックに、体を投げ出し頭で合わせて1点を返した。 イタリアは、これが12試合ぶりの失点となった。試合はそのままタイムアップ。 イタリアは、グループステージのような戦いがなかなかできずに、危ういシーンも何度か迎えたが、延長戦の末に粘るオーストリアを振り切って、何とかベスト8を決めた。 しかし、グループステージでは見えなかった様々な課題が明らかになり、これからも厳しい戦いが予想される。 オーストリアは、この大会の開幕前の評判はそれほどでもなかったが、始まってみれば個々のプレーヤーの質の高さ、戦術の見事さを世界に見せつけた。 3回目の出場で初めてのベスト16へ進出を果たし、成功した大会だったと言えるだろう。

死のグループと言われるグループFの最終戦。前回王者のポルトガルと、2018年ワールドカップ王者のフランスの戦い。 ポルトガルは、初戦でハンガリーに苦しみながら残り10分で3ゴールをあげて勝利。しかし続いてのドイツとの試合は2-4で完敗。 一方のフランスは、初戦のドイツには1-0で勝利したが、第2戦では地元サポーターの大声援を受けて大健闘のハンガリーに1-1の引き分け。 両チームとも、死のグループの中で思い通りの結果があげられていない。 前半26分、ダニーロがGKに倒されてポルトガルにPKのチャンス。これをロナウドが決めて、ポルトガルが先制。 ロスタイムに、今度はエムベパがPE内で倒されてフランスのPK。これをベンゼマが決めてフランスが同点に追いついた。 48分、ベンゼマがDFの裏に抜け出て右足でシュート。左のゴール・ポストに当たって跳ね返りゴール。 60分、ロナウドのセンタリングにコンデがPE内でハンド。ポルトガルにPKが与えられた。これをロナウドが自らPKを決めて、ポルトガルが同点に。 その後は両チームとも譲らず、2-2のままでタイムアップ。 ロナルドとベンゼマという、かつてのレアル・マドリードのFW2人が全ての得点をあげた。試合後、お互い肩を抱いて旧交を温めていたのが印象的だった。 フランスは、2勝1分でグループ首位となったが、2018年ワールドカップの頃と比べると、戦力はダウンしているように見える。 ポルトガルは、得失点差の関係でドイツに次ぐ3位となり、何とかベスト16には残ることができた。
